I was thinking about leaving this blog post blank to get across the point that I don't write.
When I was younger I loved to write. I was in creative writing classes in summer school. As I got older, my interest shifted to visual story telling: painting.
I suppose my inability to write is because all of my intelligence lies within my eyes and ears. I am a visual and auditory learner. I also have an extreme case of ADD, and cannot sit down and read something to save my life. As a result of my reading habits being almost non-existent, I do not have the natural flowing skills of a writer.
I guess the way I write is just getting all my thoughts down on paper; no organization required. My favorite writing I've done has been the entries in my notebook (I guess you could call it a diary, but I didn't want to sound like a bad Britney Spears song.) I am the queen of making lists, and I wish I could just make lists for the rest of my life, none of this analytical-paragraph-organized-paper crap. I often have writer's block, and it causes me to have extreme frustration, which turns into extreme procrastination, which ends with extreme stress.
Bridget this is really good! But, just saying, I don't think you lack creativity at all! From the things that I have read of yours I think they are unique. Also, you especially don't lack creativity in acting because you always stand out--therefore you are original, therefore you are creative. And also, I loved your last sentence. And I can relate to it. A lot.
ReplyDeleteYou don't lack creativity. You just don't work the best in the medium of paper and pencil. If lists work best for you then that's what you should do. When you get to college, if you need to write a paper then you'll do it. But after the four years of college you can do all the lists you want! You do you girl!
ReplyDeleteI'm not much of a writer either! But I do think you are a very good writer even if you don't believe me! I like that fact that you are able to express yourself through your art. That is something I always wish I could do. I thinking singing, painting...anything is awesome!!
ReplyDeleteAww Bridget, I'm sorry that you get stressed out about writing /: Don't worry, I get writer's block a lot too. I hope this class is helping you with your writing though! But to be honest, you are a very good writer, so I wouldn't feel too bad about how you write if I were you (:
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, I do really like your paintings (:
First of all, this blog post proves that you are an excellent writer :). Second, I find myself relating to many of the things you said. I ALWAYS have writers block, and I find it EXTREMELY hard to sit down and read. I also used to read and write a lot when I was little, but I began reading less and less as I grew older.
ReplyDeleteI think it's awesome that you can paint and draw. I wish I could do those things!
I can very much understand where you come from with feeling the stress of writing, but you make a good point. If the point of your writing is to be creative and express thoughts and feelings, shouldn't you be able to express them in any way you want, whether by painting, singing, or making many, many lists?
